Longwood Garden Tour:

Come relax and connect with nature.  After a busy week,  focusing on Ikebana in Philadelphia, join us for a day trip to Kennett Square, PA to enjoy Longwood Reimagined: A New Garden Experience.  Longwood is undergoing a sweeping reimagination of their Conservatory and Grounds which is expected to be complete for fall of 2024.  October is also when they host the annual Chrysanthemum Festival.  Everyone will be picked up at the Doubletree Hotel at 9:15am and transported by coach bus to the gardens where we will be given a one-hour tour.  You will then have plenty of time to further explore the gardens.  Lunch is on your own with several options on the grounds of the gardens.  You will be transported back to Philadelphia in time for dinner.

Tour of Shofuso Japanese House and Gardens:

Find some meditative peace and quiet right in the city. Join us for a trip across Philadelphia to Fairmount Park, home of Shofuso. Shofuso was built in Japan in 1953 using traditional materials and techniques. It was shipped to New York City for exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art before moving to Philadelphia in 1958. Murals by Hiroshi Senju, inspired by the garden’s waterfall are displayed inside the house. This historic site includes a hill and pond garden with a waterfall, island, and koi as well as a traditional tea house. There will be two separate one-hour tours offered on Wednesday. Transportation to and from Shofuso is NOT included.
