Conference Schedule

Please take a look at all of the wonderful events that the conference has planned for your social and educational enjoyment.

To attend the conference, you must purchase the Complete Event Package. This package includes both the Opening Ceremony/Banquet and Sayonara Banquet, exhibition participation and unlimited exhibition hall access, all four demonstrations, attendance at all forums, and unlimited access to the Friendship Room. The cost of this package is $825.

Monday through Thursday, participants will have the option of purchasing boxed lunches from the conference hotel. The menu options can be viewed here (Link) and they will be selected and paid for through the registration process.

    • Relief wall hanging using dried materials

    • Each participant will create a relief on a small canvas using dried materials, wood, branches, etc. Fresh flowers will not be used in this workshop, but flower tubes may be attached for future use.

  • Iron Ikebana Forum Meeting 4:30 - 6:00 pm

    • Join us for a riveting twist on the traditional art of ikebana at our 'Iron Ikebana' event! Watch as four talented participants from distinct ikebana schools bring their expertise to the fore, crafting stunning arrangements within a mere 10 minutes. Be captivated by the creativity and skill on display as each participant infuses their unique school's philosophy into their floral masterpiece. Be part of the excitement and witness the magic unfold at this exhilarating showcase of Japanese floral artistry hosted by the NCAR Advocates.

    • There is nothing quite like the play of light on water and glass. Unfortunately, glass does pose special challenges. There is not only an arrangement above the water, but a second arrangement below the surface. Do you hide what is underwater, or misdirect the eye from it, or celebrate it?

    • An assortment of glass containers will be made available for the workshop.

    • Uses of Washi Paper at home

    • Join this workshop to learn to work with incredible Japanese washi paper and rice glue to create something beautiful for your home. You may have seen Laura Felt on video during the pandemic, now you can learn directly from her and have hands on experience with the techniques she teaches.

    • Autumn Twirls and Swirls

    • Attendees will be introduced to the Sangetsu School through demonstration of two arrangements. They will then create an arrangement of Plane and Mass of their own, exploring the beauty and motion of leaves before complementing them with flowers. Come celebrate this season by creating an arrangement where the leaves have a starring role. Open to all schools. Excellent workshop for beginners as well as a solid challenge for experienced attendees.

    • Crossing Form

    • Originally, crossed branches in ikebana were taboo. However, Meikof Kasuya, 2nd Headmaster of the Ichiyo School, found beauty in intersecting branches and ahead of the other schools, created a unique Ichiyo-style arrangement, named "Crossing Form". Headmaster Naohiro Kasuya will show how to create this unique style in a simple way.

  • PM Ikebana Lecture and Workshop 1:00 - 4:00 pm [A4]

    • The 4th workshop will be essential for Ichiyo students.

      Iemoto Kasuya will be teaching a new course to follow the current Post Instructor study.  He will introduce several themes and participants may choose one of them and create an arrangement.
